COVID-19 Policy

Musical Pathways Foundation Student Protective Measures Policy for Mitigation of COVID-19

MPF Student Wellness Check Form

Musical Pathways Foundation is fully committed to safeguarding the health and safety of all students, teachers, and families. Public Health Madison and Dane County may issue orders which may lead us to change this policy at any time. If the Waunakee school district closes for all grades K-12 due to infection spread, we will close down all in-person instruction and transfer to virtual (or you may also take a “break”). We will also close for in-person instruction located at First Presbyterian at any time depending on the decision of the church council.

(Note: As of 8/24/20, the church is open for outside activities, but is closed for inside classes/lessons.)

Students shall:

  • Maintain six feet physical distancing from others when possible

  • Wear face mask when in a building if age 5 or older* (If in-home lesson, a face mask is required for anyone answering the door or entering the same room as the music lesson)

  • Not have any direct person to person contact (i.e., no hand shaking, no high fives, no hugs)

  • Follow basic hygiene (hand wash or use hand sanitizer prior to class/lesson and cover coughs/sneezes)

  • Not share any materials with the teacher or other students (not including siblings) unless disinfected

  • Not use the blocked off church water fountain and, when possible, refrain from using the bathrooms (Note: no access for outside classes)

*Students, age 5 or over, or accompanying family members with medical conditions that interfere with wearing a face covering should choose music instruction in a virtual format only.

Musical Pathways will:

  • Disinfect high-touch points like piano keys, door knobs, chairs, etc. prior to the class/lesson and as much as possible in-between classes/lessons (includes disinfecting piano keys and/or chairs/music stands in private homes prior to in-home music lessons)

  • Possibly limit number of visitors for older students, including parents, in the church or in-home music lesson room at any given time

  • Spread out so students may be six feet apart at all times when possible

  • Ensure that student and class groupings are as static as possible by having the same group of students stay with the same teacher as much as possible.

  • Post physical distancing signage throughout the church reminding everyone to practice physical distancing

  • Provide special accommodations for more susceptible students, teachers, and families

Procedures based on Dane County Health/CDC Guidelines:

Health Agreement:

All teachers, students, and accompanying parents/guardians/siblings will fill out a wellness check form stating they are free of fever and any respiratory illness symptoms. The student and accompanying parent/guardian may use the same form. Please follow the teacher’s guidelines for turning it in every class/lesson (paper, text a picture of it, etc.).

All teachers, students, and accompanying parents/guardians/siblings also need to confirm that they have had no known exposure to a COVID19 positive case (aka under quarantine) and/or are not waiting for test results. All teachers, students, and, if applicable, immediate household members are required to report to the administrator of Musical Pathways a positive diagnosis of COVID19. The identity of the individual and any medical information will be kept confidential. Please also report COVID19-like symptoms even without a positive test for any person within the immediate household to the teacher/administrator and cancel out of the class/lesson.

Depending on the probable or confirmed diagnosis, a determination by Musical Pathways will determine when the teacher and/or student may resume in-person classes/lessons.

The health and safety of our teachers and families is our first priority. Unless respiratory symptoms of any member of the household are confirmed non-COVID (like allergies or a negative test result), please cancel or reschedule the class/lesson. The Musical Pathways policies are loosened during the pandemic: the teacher and administrator will make sure missed lessons are taken care of through make-up lessons/classes, temporary virtual lessons/classes, credits, or a refund depending on the scenario.
